Like it or not, each and every one of us are susceptible to parasites and worms infecting our bodies on a daily basis. Parasitic infections are difficult to identify and avoid. We become hosts to parasites after ingesting their microscopic eggs. As shocking as it sounds, most humans actually carry parasites, with contamination often found in a number of everyday, seemingly harmless sources, including:
Water is a primary source of parasite infection for humans. Often water treatment methods do not kill all parasites present in lakes, dams and streams. Swallowing only a small amount of contaminated water can lead to a nasty infection. Parasitic infections, such as Giardia, are commonly contracted from contaminated water. Homes and establishments running on rain-water tanks are a high risk where no filtration system has been installed.
Parasitic eggs are easily spread from person to person and can sometimes remain alive for weeks without a host. Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese healing therapy, developed to harmonise and promote health and wellbeing. With its name literally translating to mean ‘finger pressure’ Shiatsu is based on the theory of ‘Qi’ (pronounced ‘Chi’) along with principles of Chinese and Japanese medicine. Qi is the circulating life force and vital energy that flows throughout our bodies.
The human body consists of pathways where Qi flows. These energy channels are known as meridians chakras and they control and connect our body, mind and soul.
Traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine theory, teaches that energy should flow inside each meridian and be balanced. Uneven flow, or energy blockages can affect your emotions, mental clarity, your ability to heal and renew organs and tissue, causing overall malfunction and decay. The overall balance and harmony of Qi within each meridian is crucial in maintaining optimal health and well-being.
Shiatsu uses finger pressure but also incorporates a range of techniques to apply therapeutic pressure over various parts of the body. The pressure varies and can be firm or light, using the palms, thumbs, elbows, knees and feet.

Traditional Japanese Shiatsu treatment is given on a futon mat on the floor. You will be made very comfortable with blankets and pillows to support your body.
